Preston Ridge Dermatology

Medical/Surgical Dermatology

We examine and treat all parts of the skin, known as the Integumentary System, and its related structures (hair and nails). Our most comprehensive skin exam is called a “Total Body Skin Exam” or TBSE, which is where we examine the patient for any unusual moles or questionable areas that are precancerous or suspicious. It is often referred to as skin cancer screening.

Our most common appointment is for skin “break-outs” since we are considered the “acne experts.” We address the small comedones, known as “zits, blackheads, whiteheads” and perform acne extractions when needed. For large, tender inflammatory cystic acne lesions, we try to see patients quickly to decide if cortisone injections are appropriate. We prescribe medications and can boost the results with peels, Vibraderm, and our laser-like system to decrease the acne (and the marks it can cause).

Other types of appointments/evaluations include:

  • Mole and cyst removal (excisional surgery) when inflamed
  • Rashes-eczema or dermatitis is most common, psoriasis
  • Wart or Molluscum Contagiosum treatment (common skin viruses)
  • Rosacea (flushing of the face, with redness, vessels and eruptions)
  • Biopsy of suspicious lesions.
  • Skin cancer surgery (curettage or excision and repair)
  • Actinic keratoses-precancerous lesions/growths from sun damage
